Oreo Inspired Cupcake Ideas

What’s better than a fresh batch of cupcakes and America’s favorite cookie, you may ask? These two entities of sugary happiness combined. Starting this week once a week, I’ll be posting for your viewing pleasure some of my favorite foodstuffs that have been incorporated into other unconventional recipes. I decided to kick off this week with an oreo inspired cupcake. This recipe is a variation the classic oreo cookie.


This recipe is the definition of oreo inspired cupcakes. When you think of oreo inspired cupcake recipe, this should be the first thing that comes to mind. A frosted oreo cupcake, with a surprise oreo cupcake at the bottom, oreo cookie bits in the batter, crumbled Oreos on the frosting, and an oreo cookie to top it all off. Sounds like pure deliciousness to me. And thanks to the Taylor House this recipe can be yours too!



  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed Oreos + more for decorating cupcakes
  • 1-16 ounce container of vanilla frosting


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 24 muffin cups pan with liners.
2. Combine flour, baking powder & salt in large bowl; stir in sugar. Add milk, butter & vanilla; beat with electric mixer at low speed for 30 seconds. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes.
Add egg whites: beat 2 minutes. Stir in 1 1/2 cup of crushed Oreo cookies. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups, filling two-thirds full, you can put half an Oreo in the bottom of the cupcake liner first for a little extra fun.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes
4. Frost cupcakes and decorate with additional crushed Oreos.
