“I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!”

We all remember that popular chant from when we and our parents were kids, running down the street chasing down the ice cream truck. Vanilla, mint chocolate chip, banana split, snow cones, all these varieties were offered to anyone deserving of the pocket change it took to get their hands on a cone or cup.

Of course ice cream trucks don’t come around as often as they used to, mainly because a cold treat is just a fridge walk away.

But thanks to Pinterest, here’s some delicious alternatives to some classic American treats that won’t melt in your hands on a hot day.

Did you know that you can bake cake batter in an actual ice cream cone and not have to worry about the cone burning. April Fool’s day was yesterday, I am completely serious. Apparently in the 80’s and 90’s folks would make cupcake cones with their kids and they (the kids not the parents) would bring them to school to show them off. At least that’s what Jessie Moore of CakeSpy says. The photo above features a chocolate cupcake baked in a flat bottom ice scream cone and topped with a mint chocolate chip frosting.

Mmmm…these snow cones look awesome! What makes them even better is that they are actually cupcakes. Another great thing about this recipe is that you don’t have to worry about getting brain freeze! While looking at the directions you’ll see that you have to pipe and coat the different sprinkled sections one at a time in order to achieve the seamless look of three different snow cone flavors.
